With The Avengers movie hitting the screens I took a look back at some of the classic issues of the comic book; their greatest hits if you will. During the 70's period of the book I found some excellent writing and some of the real innovators illustrating, such as Neal Adams, Barry Smith and Gene Colan. Great villains and expansive storylines. Perhaps the Avengers movies will mine some interesting stories
from these books.
