DOUBLE DISNEY: THE BARE NECESSITIES/WHEN I SEE AN ELEPHANT FLY
Oliver Wallace / Ned Livingston
(Did you ever see an elephant fly?)
(Well, I seen a horsefly)
(And I seen a dragonfly)
(Yeah, I seen a housefly)
(Ha-ha-ha-ha)
Yeah, I seen all that too...
I seen a peanut stand, heard a rubber band
I seen a needle that winked its eye
But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I see a elephant fly
(What d'you say, boy?)
I said when I see a elephant fly
I seen a front porch swing, heard a diamond ring
I seen a polka-dot railroad tie
But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I see a elephant fly
(I saw a clothes horse, he r'ar up and buck)
(And they tell me that a man made a vegetable truck)
(I didn't see that, I only heard)
(But just to be sociable, I'll take your word)
(I heard a fireside chat, I saw a baseball bat)
(And I just laughed till I thought I'd die)
But I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I see a elephant fly
Well I be done seen 'bout ev'rything
When I see a elephant fly
(With the wings)
When I see an elephant fly
END VERSION:
(I seen a peanut stand, heard a rubber band)
(I seen a needle that winked it's eye)
ELEPHANTS:
Now I be done seen about ev'rything
When I see an elephant fly
(Oh my!)
CROWS:
When I see
When I see
When I see an elephant fly
(Look at him go)
When I see an elephant fly
(Happy landings, son)
(Yippee!)
When I see an elephant fly
I sure wish I'd a-got his autograph
(Oh man, I got his autograph)
Well, so long glamour boy!
Look for the bare
necessities
The simple bare
necessities
Forget about your
worries and your strife
I mean the bare
necessities
Old Mother Nature's
recipes
That brings the bare
necessities of life
Wherever I wander,
wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder
of my big home
The bees are buzzin'
in the tree
To make some honey
just for me
When you look under
the rocks and plants
And take a glance at
the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few
The bare necessities
of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
Look for the bare
necessities
The simple bare
necessities
Forget about your
worries and your strife
I mean the bare
necessities
That's why a bear
can rest at ease
With just the bare
necessities of life
Now when you pick a
pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw
paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the
prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need
to use the claw
When you pick a pear
of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a
clue ?
The bare necessities
of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
So just try and
relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my
backyard
'Cause let me tell
you something little britches
If you act like that
bee acts, uh uh
You're working too
hard
And don't spend your
time lookin' around
For something you
want that can't be found
When you find out
you can live without it
And go along not
thinkin' about it
I'll tell you
something true
The bare necessities
of life will come to you
Love it! Speaking of a better and happy time (from your Tamiko post), whenever I hear the Jungle Book soundtrack I am propelled to my early childhood when I was mesmerized by the soundtrack LP owned by my first girlfriend Mary Beth (I was 7, she was 5). Particularly the long track "I Wanna Be Like You" which to my young ears was the equivalent of a kiddie opera! It sounded so evocative that it filled my mind with all sorts of nighttime images in the jungle -- I say nightime images because I hadn't seen the film and would not until the mid-80's LOL. This was in the 70s of course when one had to wait for Disney to release it to theaters ... no VCRs folks! And as for DUMBO, I have STILL never seen that movie. However, I owned the song "WHEN I SEE AN ELEPHANT FLY" on a record of Disney songs and always loved its high energy and wacky singing! Thanks for the blast from the past!!!
