Sinead O'Connor's interpretation of Nothing compares to you, written by Prince, was a number one hit and the accompanying video showed that less can indeed be more.
The Original version (Nothing compares 2 U) by The family is also good; which is tribute to Prince's songwriting ability. The fact that in the bland era in which O'Connor reached number one it was a massive achievement that the public switched on to a great song, a great performance and a great video of genuine emotion.
