PLAYING AGAINST TYPE

Olivia Newton John-Grease

Sometimes in a movie we will see an actor play against type with great results. The surprise of seeing someone we associate with a certain type of role delivering a performance or creating an icon in a different genre/style is always a welcome one.

Henry Fonda-Once upon a time in the west
Sigourney Weaver-Galaxy Quest
Robin Williams-Insomnia
Henry Winkler-Night shift
Ernest Borgnine-Marty
Sylvester Stallone-Copland
John Candy-JFK
Ryan O'Neal-The Driver
Mike Myers-Inglourious Basterds
John Malkovitch & Jim Davidson-Colour Me Kubrick: A true story...ish
Cameron Diaz-Being John Malkovitch
