MY HIT LIST-HANG ON SLOOPY: THE McCOYS

Probably regarded as a bubble gum pop song Hang on Sloopy is quite an exception to the bubble gum rule. It was written in 1964 and was a big hit, The McCoys were basically just another band, somewhat in the Beach Boys envelope but this record has a great groove and I'm amazed that it hasn't been sampled.
An example of simplicity, a good lyric a cracking chorus with a hint of Isley Brother swagger.
