"as God is my witness"
"Nobodys perfect"
During this twenty year period the movie world experienced an unprecedented release of great movies. These
classics are just that; classics. By repeated viewing movies can become
entrenched in the consciousness, so much so that it can be forgotten that these
well known movies are fantastic, despite their ubiquity. when the American Film Institute composed it's 100 greatest movies the lion's share where from this period. When you actually stop and consider these amazing movies what is understood is that the depth and quality of the system that produced these movies is seldom seen these days.

These are all big studio pictures and the irony is that the majority of quality movies are now made by smalll independent studios. Maybe what is shows is that the audience's abilty to understand the language of cinema and the nuance of performance was not under estimated back then. These are the movies that conjure up everything that makes cinema such a passion.
