BLOKEISM # 6 STANLEY BAKER

tribute

Close friend with Richard Burton this Welsh actor  was a life long Socialist, Heavy Smoker and a real man's man on Screen. Unlike the  matinee idols of the time Baker had a hard edge. He bought a hard edge and menace to his performances. A darkness seemed to lurk within. Baker was a rough Welshman who took to the screen with great ease and was a go to guy for the darker parts. happy to play unsympathetic characters, adept at bringing nuance to the screen. Stanley Baker was the quintessential British male, with a capital M, star of his time
