The 1970s were the golden age of British Sitcoms, but they were also the golden age of terrible British Sitcoms. Bog standard sitcoms such as Please sir, George & Mildred and on The Buses in their movie form are exercises in excruciatingly bad broad humour. Even the quality programmes such as Porridge, Dad’s Army, Steptoe & Son and Rising Damp were similarly awful in feature length form. Here's some of the Movie posters used to lure TV fans into Cinemas in the 1970s.
