New York the Naked City. A world of Jazz, late nights, Murder, Sleaze, burlesque, backstage drama,crime of all shades and rainwashed pavements; the stuff of Film Noir. This was Weegees beat. But he was no cop or Private eye, he was a photographer, THE photographer of New York in the 30s & 40's. His work is gathered in a marvelous tome Weegee's Naked City. The pictures contained within are real life movies scenes. Poverty, glamour, murder scenes, gangsters and show girls. Hard boiled photos of hard boiled times.
