Scorsese's New York New York starring Robert DeNiro is an overlooked and under appreciated film from the brilliant duo. Appropriately filmed at MGM studios it's a mix of A Star is Born, Hollywood melodrama and comedic drama. Liza Minnelli above all is under rated in this movie. Her vulnerability and intensity are excellent counterpoints to DeNiro's magnetic presence and her singing is top notch and bitter sweet.
If you've seen and loved Cabaret give New York New York a try.
