Cobi King of the Mascots
Following on from yesterdays Mascott dissection, here is my favourite Mascot of them all; Cobi from The Barcelona Olympics 1992.
In perfect keeping with the cultural nature of the city and region, Cobi is a Catalan Sheepdog in Cubist style inspired by the interpretations of Picasso of a masterpiece from Velázquez, Las Meninas. Cobi was designed by Javier Mariscal His name was derived from the Barcelona Olympic Organising Committee (COOB).
There you have it, take an idea from history, culture and art to inform your choice of mascot. Also don't take it all too seriously then go on to produce a TV series featuring your character in Haringesque animated morality plays with a sprightly Euro Trash theme. Ole!
