My Double Bills # 1

Oldboy (Hangul: 올드보이)
&
A Bittersweet Life (Dalkomhan insaeng: 달콤한인생)

From Korea in 2003 & 2005, two movies about vengeance, love and violence. Both feature stylised camerawork and soaring classic soundtracks. They have the calm centre to the action often missing in American movies of the same genre. A bittersweet life is the yin to Oldboys yang, but they both prove to be movies with depth and power that should be watched with a coffee and the lights down.
