REAL REALITY

Channel 4's EDUCATING ESSEX and 24 HOURS IN A&E

Two shows on Channel 4 currently put the real into reality TV. They show an intimate and human side of life in the Education system in Passmore School and The A&E in Kings Hospital, both establishments trying to save people in different ways.
What makes these programmes eminently watchable is that the camera stands back and lets the day to day take over. We see real emotion, real feeling and real love. Be it for pupil or patient the professionals we see going above and beyond their call of duty are inspirational. And very humorous.  It is rare to see people in the caring professions at work and in these two programmmes there is now pretence or attempt at media careerism, you genuinely get the sense that the carers care. The pupils and patients are full of character, humour and philosophy as we see them trying to make it, both academically and literally. This is the type of TV that makes you understand what a great medium it can be. Entertaining and life enhancing I highly recommend that you find time to watch.
